Hip Thrust (Smith Machine)

Hip thrust performed on a Smith machine — bar travels in a fixed vertical track, allowing heavier loads with less stabilization demand than free barbell.

Technique

  1. Upper back on bench
  2. Barbell across hips with pad
  3. Feet flat on floor
  4. Drive hips up toward ceiling
  5. Squeeze glutes hard at top
  6. Lower with control
  7. Full hip extension at top
